A few days ago, I’ve written about the planned Home Office 8.0a. We’re still in the process of planning – but we got help – @ergotron, creators of the best display stands in the world, is sponsoring 5x LX arms to create an awesome desk!

So what is the current plan?
The idea of using 5x LX arms from Ergotron is to attach all the mentioned 5 displays to them and have the NOT shaking. The only position they don’t shake too much is to put them to the very bottom of the HP stands and that it’s somewhat unergonomic for the neck. Pushing them up (what is possible) and then typing on my glass GALANT desk makes them shake, what I don’t like. The solution is to put an EXPEDIT rack behind the desk and mount the displays onto them. An issue here is the fact, that it’s too far away then. LX arms are solving this issue, because of the length of the arm, I’m able to move the screens nearer into my direction.

Where will the home office be placed?
We had the idea of moving upstairs to the attic, but after measuring the temperature and air quality not only by looking at a thermometer – we decided to stay in the current office. It also offers much better possibilities for placing desks and racks.
Which hardware?
Nothing has changed here
Mac Pro with 3x HP ZR24w screens + 2x Samsung SyncMaster 226BW. The Mac Pro has a Radeon 5770 for the 3x HP screens + a GeForce GT120 for the Samsung screens.
I don’t see a complete plan. Why?
Well, to be honest, we need to re-plan the complete home office from ground up. With Ergotron’s agreement to supply us with 5x LX arms, the desk was the most important part
