Hi! I’m Dennis Klein, geek, blogger & otaku!
My wife, me and our cat are living in our own house in a new housing estate. It’s great to have mostly the same hobbies. We share the the fascination for photography, loving to ride rollercoasters and having fun watching Animés, reading Mangas and collecting figures. At the end of February 2012, we started to learn Japanese
I’m against the usage of nuclear energy, not just since Fukushima, but at least since Chernobyl (and I was just 8 years old when this happened). I’m happy and for the first time a bit proud to live here in Germany and that the government has started to shut down all nuclear power plants. Unfortunately, this will take a while. I’m mostly “green” in my mind, try to recycle whereever I can. Our house runs on power from a green power provider (as you can see below in the bottom line). They invest the money they receive from us into regenerative energy plants like PV, water and wind usage.
I’ve always tried to look for alternatives for the currently used OS on my computers. I use a lot of Linux (mainly for servers) and have experiences with FreeBSD and Solaris as well. My personal favorite desktop is still a Mac. Tried to switch back to Windows for a couple of weeks, but honestly, even if I’m not a fan of the most new features in Lion, I like it much more than Windows. For a few weeks, I was running Linux on my PC and I’m very impressed
Like it! Flavour? Ubuntu 11.04 w/o Unity. But meanwhile, and also because of my job, I returned to my MacBook Air as computer for work. My PC is meanwhile more and more used as Flight Simulator.
When it comes to music, I rarely listen to it lately – working in a quiet room is mostly what I do to concentrate on what I’m doing. I prefer Rock music (my favourite band was a long time Bon Jovi).
Since I left Medion back in 2006, I was doing Web Design & Web Development – on my own and for Cisco. Looks like I missed a lot of stuff like all the shiny frameworks that you have to know (as it seems). I’m coding in a very puristic (some may say “old school”) php, but for me, that worked.
